How is Icon Rocklear different from ceramic coatings?
Let’s start with this statement – ICON ROCKLEAR is NOT a ceramic coating – whatsoever.
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to a vehicle’s exterior. It forms a protective layer that bonds with the paint, shielding it from contaminants while making cleaning effortless and enhancing its shine.
Ceramic coatings are primarily composed of carrier solvents and silicon dioxide (SiO2), with additional additives like titanium dioxide (TiO2) often included to boost their protective properties.
Icon Rocklear stands in a league of its own. Unlike traditional ceramic coatings that offer basic protection, Icon Rocklear delivers permanent paint protection, scratch fixing capabilities, and a thicker, more durable shield. It surpasses ceramic coatings in every way, setting a new standard for vehicle protection.
ICON Rocklear is NOT ceramic coating. Instead, it’s a cutting-edge, two-component hybrid liquid coating, meticulously designed to be mixed at a precise 10:1 ratio just before application.
The first component, that we affectionally refer to as “the sauce,” forms the chemical foundation that delivers a flexible, yet remarkably strong and durable protective layer.
This initial liquid features a unique blend of semi-solid natural and synthetic compounds, crafted using our patented I.C.E. (Interlocking Coating Enforcement) technology for superior performance and precision.
The second component is a powerful activator, formulated with self-leveling and hardening agents. It produces a high-solid content coating that is ready to use and exclusively applied by factory-trained technicians.

How long does the coating last?
Since 2015, ICON ROCKLEAR has been meticulously developed and tested to withstand the harsh, unforgiving weather of Northern Canada. Designed for extreme cold and rugged conditions, it was built to deliver unmatched durability and performance where it’s needed most.
Extensive lab and real-world testing confirm that our paint protective coating withstands daily outdoor exposure for over 15 years.
The coating for marine vessels is designed to withstand harsh saltwater, algae growth, and continuous exposure to intense UV rays, providing durable protection for over 7 years.
This is, by far, the most extensive marine coating warranty available in the industry.
This coating is also EXCEPTIONAL for travel trailers, race car trailers, and RVs. It has the longest UV protection, meaning that installing on the roof of these larger vehicles just makes sense.
Can the coating be applied to any vehicle?
Our coating is compatible with all vehicle types—cars, trucks, and motorcycles—regardless of their paint color.
It can be installed on glossy painted finishes, single-stage paint, gelcoat, marine painted surfaces, industrial painted surfaces, and fiberglass, carbon fiber, or other materials that have a painted clear coating.
ICON ROCKLEAR is ONLY installed by certified experts, in an environmentally controlled and debris-free service area. This product is best installed in cool – low humidity environments, so we’re unable to apply outdoors – unless the conditions are PERFECT!
Can Icon Rocklear be applied to older vehicles?
Absolutely! That’s actually one of our standout features. Icon Rocklear is formulated with proprietary ingredients designed to fill and repair minor swirl marks and light scratches. However, please note that it’s not meant to restore damaged clear coats.

How do I maintain the coating?
Keeping the coating in top condition is easy—just wash your vehicle regularly using a pH-neutral automotive soap and water. This simple routine will ensure your car stays looking its best.
Although we don’t advise it, you can take your car to a local automated car wash if necessary. However, be aware that over time, this may lead to minor scratches or swirl marks on the coated surface.
Unlike traditional ceramic coatings, light imperfections on this surface can be easily polished and repaired.
